Henry critique de Scheler. La critique de Scheler dans L’Essence de la Manifestation

Résumé

Thomas Sabourin takes as his starting point the concern shared by Max Scheler and Michel Henry (the rehabilitation of the individual against their objectivist misunderstanding, and the recognition of affectivity as a primary philosophical object and an immediate manifestation of subjectivity), before emphasizing their deeply different stances on what affectivity reveals. For the former, it is an emotional attitude directed toward the world; for the latter, it is a non-intentional experience of auto-affection. This article thus explores Henry's critique of Scheler, before demonstrating that Scheler expounds a theory that shows greater respect for the concrete diversity of affective experiences.
