Charlot, créateur d’une nouvelle langue
Résumé
This paper compares and contrasts two types of speech invented by Charlie Chaplin in Modern Times (1936) and The Great Dictator (1940). The efficiency of the comedic processes and their relationship with the unconscious are explored and illustrated through precise extracts which in turn provide a demonstration of the language of love - in Modern Times - and that of totalitarianism in The Great Dictator.
