« De Mulieribus di Mario Equicola (1501) : Una questione filosofica »,
Résumé
This article aims to study and analyse how, in the first part of Mario Equicola's De mulieribus (1501), a defence of women is developed based on a rigorous demonstration, making the question of women's status a philosophical object. The humanist use of ancient sources then nourishes a new thought on the foundations of Italian society at the beginning of the 16th century around the themes of education, legislation and family. The relationship between men and women is described and defined in terms of a war of the sexes and the author argues for gender equality in all areas of private and public life.
